The National Arbitration and Ethics Committee of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) announced on Friday, October 2, 2026, its decision to freeze the membership of the party’s provincial secretary in Tangier-Assilah, who also serves as president of the Tangier Municipal Council, across all party structures.
According to a statement issued by the committee, the decision follows events surrounding the electoral process in the Tangier-Assilah electoral district on September 23, 2026. The incidents prompted the competent judicial authorities to open an investigation.
The committee explained that it took the decision after receiving a referral from the party’s Political Bureau concerning alleged acts attributed to the individual concerned, as part of the party’s internal disciplinary proceedings.
At the same time, the National Arbitration and Ethics Committee stressed its commitment to respecting the independence of the judiciary and the presumption of innocence. It emphasized that the party’s disciplinary jurisdiction is independent of criminal liability, which can only be established through a final judicial ruling having the force of res judicata.
The decision, issued on October 2, 2026, under disciplinary case No. 2.26, was based on Article 149 of PAM’s bylaws, under which the committee decided to freeze the individual’s membership in all party structures.
The measure comes as the ongoing judicial proceedings continue. The party’s disciplinary decision does not, in itself, constitute a criminal conviction.
